Yvonne Martin - Proprietor

Yvonne has an extensive background in the accounting industry starting in a Sydney accounting practice where she first gained insight into the accounting industry. At the age of 21 she moved to a Sydney based group of companies and worked her way up, taking on the role of Accounts Payable Manager and was then further promoted to Computer Operator for the group which entailed processing a payroll for approximately 200 employees, accounts receivable and payable for 3 companies, reporting for the group along with setting up new stock control systems. Yvonne left the company to start a family but later returned on a part-time basis until relocating to the Mid North Coast of NSW. 8 years later another move north found Yvonne in Alstonville on the NSW North Coast where she spent the next 15 years until relocating to the Gold Coast in late 2009. However, the lure of the beautiful North Coast and a quiet village life were too great and she has now happily settled back into the Alstonvile area.

After a foray in the real estate industry, Yvonne made the decision to return to the bookkeeping industry by setting up her own business when GST was introduced to Australia. Yvonne’s role is now more one of overseeing operations.

Gavin Horner - Accountant/Bookkeeper

Gavin graduated with a B. Bus. double majoring in Accounting/Data Processing from Northern Rivers C.A.E. (now Southern Cross University) in 1987. He then took his qualifications to Sydney, working in the finance sector for several years before returning to Lismore to own and operate a successful retail toy store for 11 years. It was during this time the GST was implemented, dramatically increasing the accounting demands on his business.

Gavin has 18 years MYOB experience. Then based in Lismore, he joined Alstonville Bookkeeping Services (now Accredited Bookkeeping Systems) in July 2006. In December of 2007, pursuing a lifestyle change, Gavin, his wife, Sue and their 3 children relocated to Tasmania. After getting a feel for the Hobart area, they decided upon the historic village of Richmond as their permanent base. Rather than lose his excellent services, Gavin's NSW clients opted to send their bookwork to him in Tassie to maintain the strong rapport they'd built over a period of time.

Gavin and ABS are steadily building a clientele in the Hobart area. Having experienced the demands of a small business himself, Gavin has an excellent understanding of the needs of his clients. Gavin is a BAS Agent registered with the Tax Practitioners Board.

Lorinda Bates - Accountant/Bookkeeper

Lorinda has been servicing our Northern NSW clientele since 2006. Like Gavin, Lorinda holds a degree in Accounting and is also a Registered BAS Agent and MYOB specialist. Lorinda, her husband and her father operate a wholesale nursery in the beautiful Alstonville area. With a young family and a family business to juggle, Lorinda enjoys the convenience of working from her home base. She also has an excellent understanding of the demands of a small business.

Natalya Shatokhina - Accountant/Bookkeeper

Natalya joined ABS in 2011 while undertaking her Masters Degree in Accounting at Central Queensland University. Natalya immigrated from Siberia in Russia where she operated her own business as an accountant/bookkeeper for 6 years in conjunction with her involvement in a family furniture business. Natalya has studied English as a second language as a requirement of her Masters and has a very good understanding of MYOB. Natalya is based in the Southport area of the Gold Coast with her husband, Serg where she thoroughly enjoys the stark contrast in climate to her home country.  Natalya's goal is to become a registered CPA.

Therese Newsham - Accountant/Bookkeeper

Therese, who is Ballina based, holds an Accounting Diploma and has garnered extensive accounting experience working in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors for many years, most recently with a multinational agricultural corporation. Prior to this Therese provided accounting services to a national leading aged care organisation, providing financial support to the executive team and board. Therese also has a specialisation for small business finance and understands the intricacies of sound financial management on a budget.
